"Finding Nirvana is like Locating Silence" Jack Kerouac- Dharma Bums
Many Glacier Hotel. Just look at it... doesn't even look real. We had one of the balcony rooms on this side of the hotel where everyone stands to take pictures of it against the backdrop. There are no less than 50-60 people with nice family and/or scenic photos that also feature a couple cheersing and drinking beers. At least I hope that we made it in.
The hotel sits on Swiftcurrent Lake which is where you can find the dock for the scenic boat tours. This one is actually a two lake tour as you go to the end of Swiftcurrent hike about 1/4 mile and then get on another boat and head towards the end of Lake Josephine. You can do this to cut some mileage off the trail to Grinnell Glacier, although the part you cut off is an easy couple of miles.
This hike is a pretty easy and flat jaunt, but don't write it off because of the easy access. The contrast of the red rocks and glacial blue waters is amazing.
Hike Quick Facts:
This path had some of the most traffic in the area so I suggest you start early. It eventually leads to the Grinnell Glacier overlook but unfortunately for us, the last leg was still closed due to snow. Even so, the hike to the lake was beautiful and lined with wildflowers.
