Mt. Massive

Mt. Massive

"Mt. Massive ate my lunch.... I'm not even going to try to lie about it." - Jenni

For the first time in probably 3 years we genuinely considered throwing in the towel on a hike.  Mt. Massive is the 2nd tallest mountain in Colorado at 14,421 FT.  With almost 4,000 FT. of elevation gain I think it is safe to say this is our first and last summit attempt.

There are two routes.  We chose to use the Southwest Slope which leaves from the N. Halfmoon Creek Trailhead.

Quick Facts:

  • RT Distance: 8 MI
  • TH Elevation: 10,500 FT
    • Total Elevation Gain: 3,950 FT

Some early fall colors peeping through.

The tundra turning red.

Taking in the well earned view. This is what keeps bringing us back to 14er's.

See I told you we made it!
